Mad Judges (3)
Kane Johnston has '...numerous previous convictions for assault, possessing offensive weapons, three offences of robbery, witness intimidation grievous bodily harm, wounding and assault' so, when he was sentenced for:
a) punching a man in the street and knocking him unconscious and....
b) threating police by saying, 'Get off my estate, you're going to get it and I'll glass you in the eye and you'll know about it' and trying to stop them arresting a third party
he got threee years (18 months for a and b).
However, Lord Justice of Appeal Sir Thomas 'Beam me Up' Scott Baker decided this was manifestly excessive and cut it to only a year. The good news is that Johnston is still subject to a 5 year ASBO banning him from doing things like punching people unconscious and threatening/obstructing police officers.
As a public service, here's a picture of Kane Johnston so just in case you're ever in the Briar Hill area of Northampton on a dark night you'll know to cross the road.

As long as society tolerates, no make that rewards, the feral dogs that are currently running free, you will just get more of the same.
I'm surprised he even got that.
Actually, it appears to be reduced by a year, e.g. two years, so that will, in practice, be a year at most.
We now appear to be letting child rapists go free as long as their victim's parents feel sorry for them.
It would be interesting to have a guess at the amount of jail time he has received for previous offences.
I guess .... zero.

It really is almost unbelievable isn't it?
What the hell do you have to do to get yourself a half serious jail sentence?
Does anyone seriously believe this guy won't attack someone else during the time when he would have been serving the original three years (or the 18 months he would have served)?

To be fair "Judge Richard Bray, who sentenced him in June to two consecutive 18-month sentences,"
Mad Judge Lord Justice Scott Baker reduced the three-year sentence saying it was excessive.

Of course, the Police have plenty of lazy scum of their own who don't give a flying suck about people, so perhaps it is unfair to criticise only the judge and CPS.
When they muck about with letting people go to hit their targets, why are they any worse than Police Officers doing the same thing ?

Not a one off ; a bloke got 5 years round our way in similar circumstances. He'd have been better off shooting the Cop who arrested him.
